10up has been leading the remote workforce movement for 10+ years. Our teams are distributed across six continents and 29 countries. All of our positions are fully remote (and always will be).

The Vice President of Experience Design (XD) is ultimately responsible for the successful delivery (short-term and long-term) of client services by 10up’s Experience Design team. They provide inspiration, leadership, and hands on support to individual contributors and leaders across the disciplines of Content Design, User Experience, and Visual Design. They bring a passion for (and demonstrated experience with) selling design services to enterprise clients in a professional services setting. They are comfortable representing 10up’s experience design practice externally, amplifying our presence and reputation in the market. They manage Director-level leaders in the disciplines and work with team leads on personnel development and growth for individual contributors at every level. Reporting directly to the CEO, they advocate for design within the executive team in relation to goal setting, evolution of services offerings, and expectations for collaboration with Engineering, Project Management, and Account Management.

This role is fully remote and is open to applicants located anywhere around the globe, with a preference for candidates in the US, UK, or Europe, based on the locations of 10up’s client and prospect base.


  • Pitch 10up’s Experience Design capabilities in conversations with prospects and current clients. Lead sales efforts for notable XD opportunities (collaborating with new business and accounts strategists) with strategic prospects & current clients, articulating the value proposition for experience design disciplines in the context of 10up’s broader offerings. Win strategic design opportunities by crafting persuasive communications and supporting design assets to deliver a compelling vision
  • Amplify 10up’s presence in the market with respect to Experience Design, through thought leadership, content marketing, and clear articulation of our value proposition, through both individual contribution and team empowerment
  • Cultivate and grow a high-quality experience design team, supporting recruiting not just through the interview and portfolio evaluation process (first contact to offer) but also by attracting and identifying desirable talent
  • Manage discipline directors in Content Design, User Experience, and Visual Design
  • Play a major role in ongoing practice development and change management: best practices, approaches, activities and deliverables — guiding and inspiring the effort of discipline directors and shaping a cohesive experience design practice
  • Represent and advocate for Experience Design within the 10up Executive Team
  • Advocate for and represent Experience Design across the broader 10up team, collaborating actively with other delivery discipline leadership


  • Five or more years of demonstrated experience leading design teams producing a portfolio of high quality work in UX & UI Design informed by Content Strategy
  • Three or more years of demonstrated experience substantially supporting or leading business development in an agency context with a focus on experience design
  • Solid, demonstrable understanding of the key concepts (goals, activities, deliverables) across content design/content strategy, user experience, and visual design. Depth in one (or more) but ability to represent effectively and persuasively the breadth of our offering.
  • Ability and willingness to get directly involved with projects facing challenges - supporting design execution not just from afar but by getting hands on where appropriate
  • Deep experience with design for web sites driven by content management systems (CMSs) and a clear sense of how best practices for digital experience design are evolving
  • Clear history of active, productive, successful collaboration across disciplines on the successful delivery of digital projects, including Account Management, Project Management, and Engineering
  • Experience managing managers, i.e., supporting and growing managers of teams in the context of Experience Design
  • Attitude, aptitude, and demonstrated capability building productive collaborative relationships with other disciplines: Engineering, Project Management, and Account Management in particular

Nice to have

  • Experience with distributed / remote design teams and collaboration patterns for experience design work in a global context
  • Experience with our current platforms (most importantly Figma & Miro) as well as other common tools for digital experience design
  • Specific experience with WordPress and Headless approaches to CMS-based site delivery
  • Consistent history of thought leadership / visibility in the Experience Design community (speaking & writing on XD topics)
