The Vice President, People & Culture (VPPC)  is responsible for talent acquisition, retention, and growth across all 10up disciplines. They directly lead the recruiting and HR functions and collaborate with discipline leadership on talent development. Working with the executive team, this individual provides strategic leadership and insight that will help us establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies that position 10up as a desirable employer and cultivate a healthy, engaged, and talented team. 


  • Develop strategies for effective recruitment, building on existing practices to ensure consistent access to qualified candidates and a healthy talent pipeline (in both permanent and contractor roles)
  • Manage relationships with third-parties (placement firms, contingent recruiters, and contracting agencies), including prioritizing which we should be working with and how we can make those sources more effective at the same time as we ramp up our own direct sourcing efforts 
  • Engage directly with team members as an escalation point for concerns and issues, working with managers on appropriate resolution 
  • Develop strategies for professional development across disciplines, including external training partners and offerings, best practices, internal programs, and mechanisms for tracking and evaluating effectiveness of such programs 
  • Participate as a strategic partner in the development of the company’s plans and goals, bringing a perspective rooted in employee experience & engagement and human resources management
  • Collaborate with leadership across multiple disciplines to develop consistent, thoughtful approaches to personnel management that lead to professional growth and foster personal development, and to develop the processes, tools and practices necessary to support improved personnel management outcomes across the organization
  • Contribute meaningfully to 10up’s efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion, both in the talent pipeline/recruiting and across the employee lifecycle  
  • Act as an advocate and champion for employee experience, balanced with an understanding of fiscal responsibility in establishing sustainable benefits and processes
  • Ensure consistent compliance with all regulations governing employment, contracting, and obligations to team members
  • Serve as a coach/mentor, providing advice and knowledge rooted in human resources, talent development, and employee engagement to the broader executive and leadership teams 
  • Provide strategic leadership and active management to 10up’s existing people operations and recruiting teams, establishing a clear vision for how they operate, set goals, and serve the company and its team members 
  • Evaluate the personnel operations and recruiting team structure globally and plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as providing individuals with personal and professional growth


  • Significant demonstrated experience growing and leading a highly efficient and productive team, with ownership over both talent acquisition and employee engagement (retention and growth), preferably in a distributed digital agency
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Certification in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP or equivalent) 
  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Proactive, solution orientation - ability to work through complex problems to identify solutions and build buy-in for those solutions 
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus

Nice to have

  • Experience with HRIS platforms, especially those common to distributed teams 
  • Experience with technology tools and platforms common to modern digital  agency work (Google Docs/Suite, Slack, Teamwork, Zoom, or similar)
