Simple User Password Generator

Allows administrators to generate a secure password when adding new users.

Users with the ability to manage users (administrators) have a new button on the add and edit user screens to generate a secure password.

Also adds an option to encourage the user to change their password, when logged in to the dashboard, as well as an option to send
existing users the new, generated password.

No new settings pages or configuration screens, nothing added to the database. Just install and go!

Localization ready; includes Spanish translation. Other translations welcome!

New "Generate Password" button and "Encourage user to change their password" features seen on the add new users screen.

  1. Hi there,

Nice and helpfull plugin. I’ve made a german translation for it.

  2. Hi there

we’re hitting a problem with the generate password plugin – when entering a new password as a subscriber then trying to login to change that generated password we are getting re-directed to the site’s homepage – any help would be appreciated.

    • This plugin doesn’t alter login behavior. I believe subscribers, by default, are redirected to the front of the site upon logging on. You can override this behavior with custom code filtering the login redirect.

  3. I love your plugin – I’ve used it on a number of sites I manage. Helps tremendously so I don’t have to come up with passwords!!

Question – where do you pull the URL that is contained in the email? One of the sites I works on has a custom login page that I’d like to send in the email instead of the wp-login.php page. Can I change that somewhere?

  4. I’m running WP 3.9.2 and just updated to v3.0 of your plugin. The older version had been working fine, but when I add a new user now and generate a password, when I save the user I get errors:

Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class ‘Simple_User_Password_Generator’ does not have a method ‘user_register’ in /home/mwes/web/wordpress/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 470

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/mwes/web/wordpress/wp-includes/plugin.php:470) in /home/mwes/web/wordpress/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1121

    • Good catch. Just pushed a bug fix (forehead slapping bug!).
