Distributor publicly released with Gutenberg support and Enterprise service offering

Distributor

We are proud to announce that Distributor has exited beta and is now openly available. Distributor is a free WordPress plugin that makes it easy to syndicate and reuse content across your websites—whether in a single multisite network or across the web with the REST API.

With Distributor, content creators can “push” or “pull” content between multiple sites, while retaining updates from the original source and preserving SEO. Copy, media, metadata, and categories all come along, and our fully extensible, open-source code base empowers developers to adapt it to even the most complicated workflows. To get the release version, and enable simple updates, head to DistributorPlugin.com and fill out the short registration form.

More than 100 organizations and developers participated in our Distributor beta program. Their feedback has helped us ensure that Distributor can be the trusted solution for sharing content between WordPress sites. We’ve already integrated many improvements contributed by beta testers, including 10up clients. Distributor has been approved for use on WordPress.com VIP and is ready for enterprise implementations. We have a roadmap of planned enhancements, with ambitious plans including more advanced media distribution and sophisticated “take down” features for the forced removal of distributed content.

Distributor includes support for Gutenberg, WordPress’s next-generation editor. We’ve even considered interoperability between the classic editor and Gutenberg, and instances where custom blocks are not registered on remote sites. All aspects of the user interface have been carried over to ensure a coherent and cohesive experience. As Gutenberg itself is under active development, we’re considering Gutenberg support in Distributor as “beta”—as Gutenberg is rapidly iterating, adopters should be careful when adopting both tools in their workflow.

For larger organizations who see Distributor as a key tool in their stack, we’re also offering an Enterprise support package. For less than 10up’s standard support agreements, Enterprise Distributor support offers rapid response to general issues and feedback, support for customer-specific integrations and customizations, early access to testing new features, and white-labeling. Support packages also help fund and accelerate ongoing development. Customers are invited to our Steering Committee, which meets regularly to shape the roadmap and prioritize improvements. We’ve already welcomed our first support customer. Reach out if you’re interested: [email protected].

Distributor represents thousands of hours of research and development, and we think it will become a critical part of the digital stack for organizations that use WordPress and own multiple web properties. Our registration program establishes a direct relationship with adopters. We want to understand common use cases, keep adopters apprised of significant updates and beta testing opportunities, and have a channel to gather direct feedback. Registrants receive a free license key, which enables one-click updates in the WordPress dashboard. To register and download the release version, head to DistributorPlugin.com. Distributor is also available on GitHub, where we are actively reviewing feedback and issue reports.
