MCE Table Buttons
Adds table editing controls to a third row in the WordPress classic editor.
A very light weight plug-in based on a slightly modified version of the table editor plug-in included with the full version of TinyMCE. Only includes English localization; please let us know if you would like additional localizations added. The table editing toolbar will hide and display with the “kitchen sink” (activated with the button that looks like 3 rows of squares on the first toolbar row in the editor).
Note that this should not be used with other plug-ins that significantly alter the editor’s default behavior. It is intended to be a simple, light weight solution for editors who only want to add table management to WordPress’ included editor.

Any plan to update this plugin? The WordPress plugin directory considers it abandoned :-(

Hi, any plans to update this plugin because it’s behaviour is buggy! (Can’t select cells anymore, …).

For anyone looking for a replacement plugin: Try TinyMCE Advanced. It does everything MCE Table Buttons does and more.

Yes, but that plugin is heavier and has unnecessary features if the site needs only the Table button.

I WAS OK WITH TINIMCE BUT NOW I AM UNABLE TO CLICK ON MERGE CELL AND SPLIT CELLS. PLEASE SOLVE THIS

Manish – I’ve replicated your issue and opened up a GitHub issue for this, feel free to subscribe to this for updates as it gets resolved and into a MCE Table Buttons release: https://github.com/10up/mce-table-buttons/issues/7.

It works very well, but it’s a pity that it’s not being developed further.

Batteryok – Given the shift towards the block editor, our MCE Table Buttons plugin has less importance that it did in a classic editor-only world. That said, anyone is welcome to fork the plugin code and support changes in the future; Vive le GPL!
Jeff.

Hi, thanks for the great and light plugin.
This plugin was removed from WordPress. Is it okay if my site still use it?
Jeff Paul on
As noted on the plugin’s support page, it was archived as it only operates within the Classic Editor and that the Classic Editor is set for discontinued support.
