MCE Table Buttons
Adds table editing controls to a third row in the WordPress editor.
Adds table editing controls to the visual content editor (TinyMCE).
A light weight plug-in that adds the table editing controls from the full version of TinyMCE, optimized for WordPress. Note that this may not work in conjunction with other plug-ins that significantly alter or replace the visual editor’s default behavior.
Note that the table controls are contained in the “kitchen sink” toolbar, toggled with the last button on the first row of controls.

Any plan to update this plugin? The WordPress plugin directory considers it abandoned :-(

Hi, any plans to update this plugin because it’s behaviour is buggy! (Can’t select cells anymore, …).

For anyone looking for a replacement plugin: Try TinyMCE Advanced. It does everything MCE Table Buttons does and more.

Manish – I’ve replicated your issue and opened up a GitHub issue for this, feel free to subscribe to this for updates as it gets resolved and into a MCE Table Buttons release: https://github.com/10up/mce-table-buttons/issues/7.

It works very well, but it’s a pity that it’s not being developed further.

Batteryok – Given the shift towards the block editor, our MCE Table Buttons plugin has less importance that it did in a classic editor-only world. That said, anyone is welcome to fork the plugin code and support changes in the future; Vive le GPL!
Jeff.
